Yes, they can. Whilst the AVI50219 Diploma of Aviation (CPL) and AVI50519 Diploma of Aviation (IR) are advertised as 52-weeks and 16-week courses, respectively, factors such as (but are not limited to) the individual’s learning ability, weather and pandemics, can all result in a longer than advertised course. Again, though, the opposite is true: a committed student with all factors favouring his studies can complete these courses earlier than advertised.

As both a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Approved Training Organisation and a ASQA accredited Registered Training Organisation, we are required to recognise and consider any prior learning through a process known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Where previous training and/or qualifications can be mapped, training will be tailored to suit the practical needs of an individual.
Our program is Competency-Based, so if you have not reached the level of Competency you require to progress further (i.e. be deemed Not Yet Competent), you will be recommended by your Flight Instructor for remedial training. In the unlikely event that you cannot reach the required level of Competency after 2 therapeutic sessions, the Head of Training will initiate and take charge of a Review Process to assess the best option for you.

A CASA Flight Crew Class I Aviation Medical Certificate must be obtained before your First Solo. The certificate’s validity must also be maintained by you throughout your courses here at Flylink Aviation College. It is strongly recommended that you obtain this Class I Medical Certificate before your course commencement to ensure you have no medical condition that may restrict you from becoming a commercial pilot.
CASA has a list of Approved Designated Aviation Medical Examiners (DAME) available for Class I and II medicals in Australia and globally. You may contact us if you need our assistance locating a DAME near your location.
Because everyone learns differently, answering this question in advance is difficult. However, as a general guideline, the CASA minimum is 150 hours. To do this, the course has to be conducted in a specific manner, with an interconnected theory and flight milestones. Some Flylink Aviation College students complete their Commercial Pilot Licence in 150 hours, but this is the exception rather than the rule. The average student will probably finish their CPL in 160-170 hours, while some may take more time. Our Diploma of Aviation CPL course consists of 200+ hours of aeronautical experience.

A trial flight is the perfect way to get a taste of what it is like to be a pilot. This flight is a condensed version of every pilot’s first lesson – Effects of Controls. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, you will learn the basics of the aircraft while getting a hands-on introduction to pilot training.
Eligible students can access funding for some of our courses through ZeeFi Vocational Loans. A vocational Loan is an affordable payment option for courses that are excluded from government funding.

For direct entry to most airlines, you will require a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), a Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating (MECIR) and typically theory credits for the Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). Airlines will publish their minimum criteria for pilot applications on their website.
Student visa applications are managed by our associate Auslink Investment Co, who specializes in visa applications, and they will advise International students on visa matters and assist in the application process.
After completing the Pilot Immersion Program, students undergo pre-solo checks.

Except for students attempting their first solo, the course will continue to progress even if a particular flight doesn’t go well. For students attempting their solo, if the flight doesn’t go well, additional reinforcement training flights will be required (at extra cost).
